Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2025 · Applies to mapzy.com and the Mapzy desktop application
This policy explains what data Mapzy collects, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We keep it short and honest.
Who we are
Mapzy is a Minecraft map art automation tool developed and operated by Ariel. For any privacy questions, contact us at: privacy@mapzy.com
What data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:
- Email address — provided by you when you sign up or purchase. Used to send your license key. Nothing else.
- Discord username — optionally provided at checkout. Used to assign you a role in the Mapzy Discord server.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Paddle (our payment processor). We never see or store your card details. Paddle is the Merchant of Record and their privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website (pages visited, time on site, country). This data is anonymised and does not identify you personally.
- License key activity — when the Mapzy bot validates your license key, we log the timestamp of the request. We do not log your IP address or location.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Under GDPR we must have a legal basis for processing your data:
- Email & license key — processed on the basis of contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — we need your email to deliver what you paid for.
- Discord username — processed on the basis of consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — it's optional and you provide it voluntarily.
- Analytics — processed on the basis of consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — you can decline analytics cookies via the cookie banner.
How long we keep your data
- Email and license data — kept for as long as your account is active, plus 90 days after deletion.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics per their standard retention settings (26 months by default).
- If you request deletion, we remove your data within 30 days.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services required to run Mapzy:
